The festive season is upon us again, which means it’s time for you and your loved ones to get together and celebrate the wonderful moments of togetherness.

During this time of the year, there are usually a lot of invitations from friends and colleagues to enjoy Christmas dinners and end-of-year parties.

But the awful traffic in Jakarta makes it impossible for you to divide time between work and a social life. While you can probably jump on an ojek and make it from your office to your friend’s house at the other end of the city just in time for a festive dinner, it’s hard to properly adjust your looks for both purposes.

With so little time to manage, Jakarta’s urbanites definitely need to have a certain set of skills to dress up smartly for both daytime and evening occasions. With such heavy traffic congestion during peak hours, there is hardly any time to go home and change.

That’s where local office-wear label The Executive, steps in, offering a solution to this perennial problem.

The label recently partnered with Indonesian streetwear brand ISIS to create a special festive season collection called “City of Style.”

“The ‘City of Style’ represents Jakarta, the melting pot of creativity,” says Rita Zulkaidarati, the brand manager of The Executive.

The collection is the second collaboration between The Executive and an up-and-coming Indonesian label.

Its first collaboration came earlier this year with Islamic fashion designer Hannie Hananto, when they came up with a special Idul Fitri collection.

Rita says that collaboration was a success, selling out long before the Islamic holiday of Idul Fitri.

This time, The Executive has paired up with ISIS for its year-end holiday collection.

“ISIS has a unique signature style, which we believe will enhance our festive season’s collection,” Rita says.

ISIS itself is a collaboration between Indonesia socialite Andrea Risjad and the talented young fashion designer Amot Syamsuri Muda.

The brand, named after the ancient Egyptian goddess and not the jihadist group laying siege to Syria and Iraq, started in Bali in 2010 as a T-shirt label.

“With little baby steps, we’ve now grown to a full clothing line,” Andrea says.

ISIS stays true to its fun and edgy DNA. In line with the image of the goddess, its collections have consistently portrayed strong, independent woman, always with a playful twist.

“We feel very honored to be able to collaborate with The Executive,” Amot says.

For the “City of Style” collection, ISIS created fresh and innovative fashion items for women that can easily be mixed and matched.

The collection, which consists of 32 new looks, was showcased recently at the Senayan City mall in South Jakarta.

“The collection is for women who want to take themselves seriously yet still have fun with their passion,” Amot says.

With basic colors of black, white and dusty pink, the clothes make for appropriate office wear in even the most conservative of workplaces. And yet with a little creative styling, the same outfit can be transformed into elegant cocktail dresses or chic clubbing outfits.

Take the simple black-and-white shirt, for instance. Its clever color-blocking scheme gives the wearer an elongated silhouette,  making her look slimmer.

And with an addition of black leather bra-top, the same shirt can be worn as a chic outerwear. Paired with black leather capri pants and stiletto ankle boots, the look would definitely turn heads in nightclubs.

Indonesian model Firrina Sinatrya presented a tailored white-and-gray suit. The suit’s beautiful sheen and textured fabric makes it very chic and appropriate for top executives to wear to important meetings, as well as to Christmas Eve services at church.

A short-sleeved dusty pink dress makes for a neat and adorable look at the office. To go out in the evenings, all you have to do is just to add an asymmetrically cut long vest to the dress. The dark-gray vest, made of wool, keeps the body warm during the evening, while creating a stylish and fun overall impression.

“Layering is a simple way to add more style to your everyday look,” Amot says.

The fashion show culminated with a parade of the models and a live musical performance by pop-rock singer Aryo Wahab and Restu “Andy” Triandy, the vocalist of the rock band /rif.

“The new collection is fantastic,” says Andini, 25-year-old marketing executive for a fashion magazine in Jakarta.

“It’s so different from The Executive’s previous collections. It’s definitely more stylish and funky. I can’t wait to get them at the stores.”

Andini and others hankering for the new collection won’t have to wait for a long.

The collection will be available in The Executive’s specialty stores in Jakarta in the coming days.

The clothes range in price from Rp 200,000 to Rp 300,000 ($16.20 to $24.30).

Amot says he hopes there will be more opportunities for ISIS and The Executive to collaborate on future collections.

“It’s in line with our mission to make fashion available and affordable for everyone,” he says.

Rita says that so far she’s been very pleased with the results of the two collaborative collections that The Executive had embarked on with local designers.

“These collaborations energize our label and give a fresh, new color to our collections,” she says.

“We will continue to do such collaborations for special occasions in the future.”
